Hi, I am Lexie Cheng, an engineer, maker, and self-taught graphic designer raised between Taipei, Taiwan and New York. I now call the San Francisco Bay Area home.
My professional journey spans product design, product marketing, quantitative research, storytelling, branding, and product management. I bring extensive electromechanical expertise, including control drawings for PCBAs, connector selection, harness specifications, thermal and enclosure design, product packaging, safety compliance, and EMI/EMC shielding requirements. I’ve worked hands-on through DFM/DFA challenges with external vendors, supporting builds from low-volume prototyping to high-volume production.
Throughout my academic and professional career, I’ve often been the only woman in the room. While some might see that as discouraging, I’ve always viewed it as an opportunity to challenge stereotypes and open doors for others. I believe young female engineers should know from the start that we’re not just participants, we're equal contributors. Every day, I strive to prove that women not only belong in this field.
I served as Chair of the ASME Santa Clara Valley Section from 2019 to 2024, where I’m passionate about fostering a vibrant engineering community. I’ve worked closely with industry leaders to bridge the gap between early-career professionals and the broader ASME network. Under my leadership, we’ve launched new programming that integrates local student sections and cultivates emerging engineering talent. Recently, I led the successful merger of inactive Bay Area sections into our Santa Clara group, a major step in revitalizing our regional presence.
Outside of work, you’ll find me experimenting with new recipes, diving into escape rooms, or enjoying board games with family and friends.
